50% of COVID-19 Patients can Produce Antibodies in the First Few Days of Infection!
According to investigations and studies, half of Covid-19 patients will develop anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the first few days of infection, mainly IgG (immunoglobulin G, which indicates that the body has the ability to defend against viruses), which is better than the current situation. The known time is about two weeks. Experts from Marqués de Valdecilla de Santander University Hospital confirmed this. The research will be detailed at the first National COVID19 Conference, which is the largest health conference held in Spain to date.
The study investigated 153 suspected patients to study the development of SARS-CoV2 antibodies, and serum analysis was performed on average two days after PCR detection. 84.97% of the patients showed positive results in the PCR test. These patients were grouped according to the IL-6 value (interleukin-6, a marker of systemic inflammation). Now 44.62% of the patients have IL-6 values below 40pg/mL , 55.38% of patients had IL-6 values higher than 40pg/mL. The higher the value, the more serious it was.
The prevalence of IgG, IgA (absolute antibodies) and IgM antibodies in the total population were 51.6%, 30.1% and 37.9%, respectively. There was no significant difference between PCR-positive and PCR-negative patients. However, patients with positive PCR and elevated IL-6 (44.4% and 58.4%) had increased IgM and IgG antibodies, and their condition was more serious. Patients with PCR positive and low IL-6 (24.1% and 41.4%, respectively) had lower severity. Similarly, compared with PCR-positive patients with low IL-6 (24.1%), the incidence of IgM antibodies in patients with PCR negative and high IL-6 also increased.
