Russia will Supply 25 Million Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine to Egypt



On September 30, the Russian Direct Investment Fund signed an agreement with an Egyptian pharmaceutical giant to supply 25 million doses of the 'Sputnik-V' new coronavirus vaccine to Egypt, which is expected to cover a quarter of the Egyptian population.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund issued a statement on the 30th, saying that the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Egyptian pharmaceutical giant Pharco have reached an agreement to supply 25 million doses of the 'Sputnik-V' new coronavirus vaccine to Egypt to help the Egyptian Ministry of Health prevent and control the epidemic.

Kirill Dmitriev, President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that this agreement will enable one-quarter of Egypt's approximately 100 million population to receive an effective and safe vaccine. Pharco President Sherin Abbas Hillemi said that the company is considering further cooperation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, including mass production of vaccines in Egypt in the next few months.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund previously reached an agreement with Mexico, Brazil, India, Uzbekistan, and Nepal to supply the 'Sputnik-V' new coronavirus vaccine to these countries, including 32 million doses to Mexico, 50 million doses to Brazil, and India 100 million doses.

On August 11, the Russian Ministry of Health registered the 'Sputnik-V' new coronavirus vaccine developed by the 'Gamalya' National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. Reuters reported that Russia seeks to play a leading role in the global fight against the new coronavirus epidemic.

The Russian News Agency reported on the 30th from the Russian Federation Consumer Rights Protection and Public Welfare Supervision Agency that another new coronavirus vaccine developed by the Russian National Virology and Biotechnology Research Center completed clinical trials on the same day.
