Russia's New Coronavirus Vaccine will be Released, India Trial

The Russian-registered vaccine 'Sputnik-V' for the prevention of new coronavirus infections will undergo clinical trials in India and other countries this month. The preliminary results of the third phase will be announced from October to November this year.

Previously, Indian Prime Minister Modi revealed that the progress of vaccine development in India is gratifying. Three vaccines have already been tested. He still hopes to reach cooperation with Russia on vaccines.

The Indian Express quoted government sources as reporting that after the Russian vaccine was registered in August, the Indian government immediately maintained contact with the Russian side on the issue of the new coronavirus virus vaccine, and looked forward to receiving information on the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

According to the Russian Ministry of Health, the first batch of 'Sputnik V' vaccines jointly developed by the National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Gamaleya and the Russian Direct Investment Fund have been promoted to civilian use. The vaccine was registered with the authorities on August 11. On September 3, Belarusian Prime Minister Golovchenko was also vaccinated with the new coronavirus vaccine produced in Russia after meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mishustin.

According to the report, Kirill Dmitriev, President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said in an interview with 'India Today' TV that Prime Minister Modi said that India is willing to produce vaccines and has already invested a considerable amount of capital in the field of vaccines and ability to produce vaccines on a large scale. Russia is interested in making India as its production partner.

Dmitriev pointed out that Russia is willing to carry out the third phase of clinical trials of the vaccine in India. He said, 'Our goal is to vaccinate 40 million people. We are working with 20 countries including India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.'

Although the Russian authorities stated that the vaccine is ready for the public, concerns about the vaccine still exist. Dr. Fauci, a member of the US Food and Drug Administration's vaccine advisory group, said last month that Russia's vaccines have not yet been fully tested.

'The India Times' pointed out that for now, the new coronavirus epidemic shows no signs of stopping. At least in India, cases are beginning to increase exponentially again. 'People are desperately waiting for the development of a vaccine to help us control the spread of the virus'.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in India ranks second in the world. According to the latest data released by the Indian Ministry of Health on September 9, the number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in India rose to 4,370,128. In the past 24 hours, India has newly confirmed 89,706 cases, an increase of more than 50,000 in 42 consecutive days. There were 1,115 new deaths and 73,890 deaths.
