China's Domestically Produced Inactivated New Coronavirus Vaccine Officially Unveiled!

China's Domestic New Coronavirus Vaccine Unveiled

According to overseas reports, at the China International Trade in Services Fair in 2020, Sinopharm Group China Biotech demonstrated two new inactivated vaccines for the first time, causing widespread concern.

It is reported that these two vaccines are ahead of the world in all aspects. At present, both vaccines have entered the third phase of trials, which have been launched in many countries and regions such as the UAE, Morocco, and Argentina. The number of vaccinations reached 50,000, and the sample population covered 115 countries.

In response, Luo Linyun, Deputy General Manager of Sinopharm's China Biological Marketing Center, said that if the third phase of the trial goes well, the vaccine will be officially launched on the market at the end of this year.

Regarding the vaccine price issue that everyone is concerned about, Liu Jingzhen, Chairman of Sinopharm Group, also revealed that the market price of the new coronavirus inactivated vaccine is about several hundred Chinese Yuan per dose, and the price of two doses will probably be less than 1,000 Yuan (about 80USD). In addition, Liu Jingzhen also said that he himself had received two doses of the inactivated new crown vaccine and there were no adverse reactions.

Can’t Pin All Hopes on Vaccines

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus once said that due to the limited initial supply of vaccines on the market, not everyone can be vaccinated when it is officially put into use, but vaccination firstly given to specific groups of people in all countries, such as employees of high-risk groups and with key departments, the elderly and people with underlying diseases. Tedros also said that this decision is not only necessary in terms of ethics and public health responsibility, but also economically. When the production of vaccines increases, everyone can be vaccinated.

In addition, more and more new crown vaccine candidates have received the support of the Epidemic Prevention Innovation Alliance (CEPI), and if the trial is successful, these vaccines will be further included in the COVAX global vaccine mechanism. COVAX supports the new coronavirus vaccine supply plan and is led by the WHO. The WHO also stated that the new crown vaccine is expected to enter countries in the middle of 2021.

Although the dawn of victory for domestic vaccines has emerged, the most critical phase three trials are being carried out in an orderly manner, and good news about vaccine development has been heard from other countries, but we still cannot take it lightly and pin all our hopes on vaccine.
