Russian Officials : Some People Want to Buy New Coronavirus Vaccine Now, We can Export in Next Spring

According to Russian Satellite News Agency on August 22, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Manturov said that after the increase in domestic production of Russian new coronavirus vaccine, it is expected to start exporting in the spring of 2021.

In answering a reporter’s question, Manturov said, 'Objectively speaking, it is expected to start exporting in the spring of next year. This is when China’s vaccine production reaches a high level.'

He explained, 'As China’s vaccine production increases and only when research institutes such as Gamalea cooperate with foreign counterparts will they start exporting. A series of approvals are needed to make a decision. Now some people want to buy, but we are not ready yet because we need to solve our own problems first.'

On August 11, the Russian Ministry of Health registered the world's first vaccine for the prevention of new coronavirus infections, which was jointly developed by the Gamallea National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology and the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The vaccine was named 'Sputnik V'.

Dmitriev, President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that the fund has received applications from more than 20 countries to purchase 1 billion doses of vaccines. At the same time, he pointed out that Russia has agreed to produce vaccines in five countries, and the existing production capacity will reach 500 million doses per year.
