Trump Attacks the US Food and Drug Administration : Someone Deliberately Delayed Vaccine Trials
On August 22, local time, U.S. President Trump pointed the finger at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), accusing some people in the agency of conspiring against themselves.
Trump asked FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn to expedite testing of the new coronavirus vaccine, and said that someone in the FDA has deliberately delayed vaccine trials, resulting in a vaccine that may not be available until after the U.S. election.
But critics expressed concern that the government would rush to promote vaccine research and development at the expense of safety.
According to CNN, Hahn once discussed some of his worries in a column on August 5. He wrote, 'Although speed is essential in this global emergency, our FDA is committed to upholding strict scientific principles and protecting those vaccine trial volunteers."
