U.S. Experts Comment on Russian Vaccines: Don’t Rush to Fight, the U.S. Made is Better

According to Fox News, a professor at Johns Hopkins University shouted to the American public : don’t worry about flying to Russia for the new coronavirus vaccine. Russia’s approval standards are different from those of the United States, and the United States’ vaccines are even more advanced.

Marty Makari is a professor of health policy at Johns Hopkins University and a medical writer for Fox News. He said in a program on Fox News on August 13 : 'Russia says that vaccines are safe, but Russia’s approval of vaccines is based on only a small amount of data, and the standard is far lower than that of the United States. The United States cannot accept that safety and its effectiveness standards.'

Macari emphasized that the United States has started the third phase of clinical trials of the new coronavirus vaccine, which is 'much ahead' than Russia, which is equivalent to only the first phase of clinical trials for the vaccine. He predicted, 'I think the United States is still moving towards the goal of ratifying a vaccine at the end of 2020 or early 2021.'

Speaking of the current rate of new coronavirus infections in the United States, Makari praised that 'herd immunity' has reduced the positive rate in most areas of the United States, and predicted 'good news' in the coming weeks.

According to previous media reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed on August 11 that Russia’s first new coronavirus vaccine had been approved and registered by the Ministry of Health in the morning of the same day, and his daughter had already been vaccinated first. This vaccine was named 'Satellite-V' (Sputnik-V) and will begin production.
